Many people who come in the shop speak of how the smell of premium tobacco reminds them of their father or grandfather who smoked a pipe. In honor of Father's Day, this Post will focus on pipes and pipe tobacco. Whether cigars or for pipe, Bailey's only sells premium tobacco - long filler, or using the entire tobacco leaf, and hand rolled (cigars).
When it comes to pipes and pipe tobacco, we deal with two well established companies. Our primary supplier of premium tobacco for pipes is Sutliff Tobacco, America's oldest pipe tobacco company. We also get pipes from Sutliff - mainly Brigham. Brigham Pipes use a distillator system. We get our corn cob pipes, including the Wizard, from Missouri Meerschaum. Located in Washington, Missouri - Missouri Meerchaum turns 155 this year!
We get all of our premium tobacco for pipes from Sutliff (including the Dutch Masters Cherry pouches), but have created a couple of shop exclusives. Uncle Jim is a nice Summer blend created by one of our customers. See if you recognize the drawing on the label next time you're here! Cajun Cocoa was created by our own Quinn Hebert and local politico Graham Beduze. They are still collaborating, so be on the look out for some new blends!
