You may have noticed that we carry a wide vaiety of corn cob pipes! All of them, though, are manufactured in the United States by the Missouri Meerschaum Company. Even some of our hardwood pipes are made by them. They even grow their own corn in Missouri! The company celebrated 155 years in business last week. We were invited to join in the festivites.
Gary and his wife (Betty) made the trip to Washington, Missouri (just west of St. Louis). Jaime set them up in the Old Dutch Hotel & Tavern in historic Downtown Washington. The hotel sits right atop a traditional tavern - drinks, food, conversation...
Missouri Meerschaum's celebration was held in conjunction with the Washington Fall Festival. In addition to plant tours, there were tours of the Company Museum, a paranormal investigation, displays from the Skillet Fork Pipe Museum, live podcasting by the Greywoodie Show, and a smoking tent!
Check out the links for plenty of vacation ideas and some interesting stories. Stop in this week and pick up a corn cob pipe. We're sure Gary will share some stories of his own!
